LUMIÈRES

The classic formation of a mixed octet, the same used by Schubert, proves to be an ideal instrumental combination. The three wind instruments constitute a compact, tonally rich nucleus wonderfully wrapped around by the string quintet. The joyce of the instrumental sounds is a very important compositional principle.

The intensity of “ light“ shining from a single note, a group of notes, or a chord, varies according to instrumentation. In each case the identical musical structure can develop a lot of  dramatic characters depending of the different tone-colours.
